Perfectly situated between the Trastevere and Testaccio areas of ancient Rome, this beautiful, clean, modern apartment is located on the 6th floor (with large lift) of a quiet, new (2011) building.
Trastevere is possibly the most beautiful and typically Roman area, famous for its narrow, cobbled streets, full of traditional restaurants, bars, pizzerias and small boutique shops open until late every night. From the apartment, you can take a leisurely stroll to this bustling and vibrant area or hop on and off the tram as you please, whilst still being just far enough away for a good night’s sleep!
Across the river, which can be seen from the apartment window, you will find Testaccio. Famous for its tasty trattorias and daily market. This area is popular with artists and writers and has become one of the most sought after areas to live in Rome.
If you love wandering around markets and want to experience ‘real’ Roman life and pick up a bargain at the same time, make sure you’re here on a Sunday morning, when you will find the famous Porta Portese market literally on your doorstep!
If you are looking for a park, you are not far from the amazing Villa Doria Pamphili – a seventeenth-century villa with what is today the largest landscaped public park in Rome. It is located in the Monteverde area and can easily be reached from the apartment. This park really comes alive at the weekend and, if you have a little extra time to spare, it is not to be missed. There is even a cute bistro where you can get an English breakfast!
The apartment is 250 metres from the No.8 tram stop which connects Piazza Venezia, in the historic centre, with the popular district of Trastevere. The tram also stops at Trastevere's railroad station, where commuter trains run to Fiumicino Airport and the cruise port of Civitavecchia. In addition, there is a bus stop in front of the main building. Using either of these methods, you will have easy access to all the major historical sites: Piazza Venezia, the Bocca della Verità, the Pantheon, Campo dei Fiori, and across the river to the Castel Sant’Angelo and the Vatican Museums.
Taking the tram, you will arrive in Trastevere in 4 stops (approximately 10 minutes) and the centre in 7 stops (approximately 15 minutes). The tram runs every 6 minutes.
From the end of the tram line, you can easily walk to the Trevi Fountain, the beautiful Spanish Steps and the shopping area of Via del Corso or for the big spender, the splendid Via dei Condotti, where you will find Gucci, Prada, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and other top designers.
Around the apartment
If you’re tired after a day of sightseeing, there are lots of trattorias, pizzerias, and small restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the apartment, where you can taste typical Roman cuisine. In fact there is even a restaurant, pizzeria, ice cream shop and cafe (serving excellent pastries and coffee for breakfast) on the ground floor of the building itself! For all essentials, or just to have a browse around, there is a well stocked supermarket literally next door.
Within walking distance you can find banks, local bakeries, clothes shops, tabacconists (where you can purchase travel tickets), doctors and dentists.
